Safiya is also an artist and researcher. She created the image of the Simurgh from a medieval painting of the mystical bird, and she does most of the artwork for Khafif's promotional materials. Along with practicing her drumming, Safiya is currently busy with commissions for bellydance art, and is also putting together a CD of clip art for musicians and dancers.
